My B2 was running great again FINALLY after replacing the TPSa few days ago. It solved a bunch of problems I was having....stalling, surging, weird shifting (A/T), hesitation, muffled backfiring, pinging, very bad idle, and CEL and RABS lights on.
This morning I had driven about 5 miles (all running well) when it all started again. These same symptoms lasted about 30 miles (45 minutes). Within a mile of home, all the symptoms stopped and things were running great again.
I made it home and checked the codes......
KOEO - 11
CM - 41
KOER - 11
I tested 3 times and got the same thing every time. Drove it for about 10 miles and no more problems. Any ideas??

Saw a similar problem in the 2.9 section. Checked the O2 connection and it's good.
One thing I did find was a split inlet vac hose on the Air Cleaner Temperature Sensor, so I replaced the hose. Could that have caused all those problems?
Could have. Replace the hose, clear the CM code (pull the jumper wire anytime during KOEO or CM code output), test drive the truck, and see what happens.
Catfish369 I'm New To This Site And I Noticed Your Comment About Code 41. I Got The Same Code. It Ego Always Lean Not Switching. I'm Gonna Change The O2 Sensor Just In Case Its Bad, But I Have A Q For You. My 88 Bii Is Doing About The Same Thing You Said Yours Was Doing. Very Bad Idle, Sometimes Stalling It Gets So Bad, Muffled Back Firing, Slight Miss. When I Crank It It Will Idle High For About A Min Or So Then Start Running Rough And Blowing Black Junk Out Of The T-pipe. I Can Cuit Off And Restart It And Its High/but Smooth And Then Rough Again. Could The O2 Sensor Cause All This Mess? Or Could It Be The Tps.
Not sure....Could be either or both, or something else altogether. When I replaced my TPS, every problem I was having went away and it was running better then when I first got it. Since this morning, I've driven about 40 or so more miles and no problems came up. If I have problems again, I'm going to test the O2 sensor and see where things stand.
My truck is doing the EXACT same thing... as soon as the temp starts to come up on the engine, it will cough, sputter, and spit out black smoke / junk from the tail pipe. It only does this for about 5-8 seconds before the PCM regains control and gives up (probably goes back into open loop stragety).
Did the new O2 sensor get rid of that problem, or do you think it was this orange wire? Where was this wire located? Your help is appreciated. Thanks!
