I rebuilt the PS on my 1969 F250 4x4 over the summer.....You should be able to take the stock parts from another truck and bolt the whole assembly to your DANA 44 front axle (the draglink for the front end that most parts suppliers sell has the hole for the cylinder braket to mount to). The parts, Power cylinder, Hoses, Control valve seem to be interchangeable up to 1977 or so....I bought parts blind for systems that looked similar in the catalogs and it all works great. The power cyl ban be a real bear....It cost me about $425 to rebuild mine, including finding a second core unit for the rebuild and custom machining of a shaft assembly. As luck would have it, I got a 1974 (I think) 4x4 carcass with another Pwr cyl on it for FREE the week after me PS work was done...
thanks for the info.. did you ever run across a manual that explains how it is setup and the way it bolts to the truck? also anyway you can send me some pics of yours of how it bolts to the axle, gear box location and rod that goes from the drag link to the steering gear under or over leaf springs.. need all the help I can get.. thanks anybody with pics of this setup please send them to jc098u@aol.com
I will be glad to send you photos of what I have and explain it in any way that I can. There are two different styles of control valve as far as I can tell and my xtra truck has one that I could probably sell if you need it. I will Email you via the profile section so I can get your Email address for the pics.
Yeah....I got your Tel number from the message you sent....I will give you a call in the next day or so to get your Email address....I will take some pics of my '74 (which has no engine/radiator, etc....so it should be easy to see and a few picks of my '69 (which I have discovered this weekend it actually a '67) so you will be able to see both ther garrison and the bendix style control valve. Sorry for the delay, but I've had a massive head cold this last week.
