Bilstein shocks??

I started a new thread a while ago about shocks and it seemed clear that most people suggested Rancho RS5000 for offroad use. Some suggested one of the cheaper Pro Comp models and others still suggested that these cheaper shocks were all made by the same company with a new label slapped on them for sale (a theory which I can neither prove nor disprove.) However, one guy (Skipped_Link) suggested Bilstein shocks. I went to their site and saw the different shocks they made. I do not have a lifted vehicle nor do I intend on lifting it. I would however like a responsive shock that still feels good on the road.

Has anyone used Bilstein shocks? How did you use them? What model did you use? How much did you pay? What did you think of their performance?

Thanks

In my "I'm mad at Ford days (three transmissions will do that to you)" I bought a Toyota with the TRD Offroad package that included Bilstein shocks. I thought they were great, they handled well on pavement and even better offroad. I would use them again. As for price I'm not sure since they were a stock item. Hope this helps.

What exactly do you love about yours and can you compare them to other shocks you've used.

Also, this is for DaParm, I had the same problem with my 80 F150. I finally got ****ed at those C4s and put a 4 speed manual transmission with overdrive in it and I've never looked back... Although, a five speed would be nice...

I have Bilstein's on my F-150, quite firm, and helpful when I tow the travel trailer. You can price them at shocks.com They are much firmer than the original shocks, and I like that they absorb hard bumps better.

Have you used any other shocks. Like Ranchos or Skyjackers or something. Even if you've used cheap shocks like Gabriel, let me know how Bilstein shocks perform in comparison.

The factory originals and the Bilsteins are the only ones I have used.

I've used Monroe's, Rancho 5000's, 9000's, Gabriels and Bilstiens. The Bilstiens are by FAR the best I've ever used. They are firm but not bone-jarring. They soak up bumps and seem to work even better the harder you push them. Definitly worth the extra $$$.

i love mine because...

Often shocks are not valved specifically for the vehicle they are going to be installed on, and that causes a problem for big, heavy trucks. How much can you expect from a shock that was designed to work on a jeep? My bilsteins have performed flawlessly on my truck, in all types of driving. They are very firm and visually you can see that they are built heavier duty than other shocks that I have owned. Ranchos do good, but I do not think that they last as long as the bilsteins are. The factory shocks.. well, enough said there. The shocks that originally came with my lift were just sad.. I could hear fluid sloshing around inside as I turned them upside down. These have been great thus far, not to mention they look sweet and the finish has held up great. By the way I have the 5100 series.
