Ok guys I really like my 94 F150 but 15 mpg is killing me on my daily commute. I am looking for something with good fuel mileage and drive forever. Got any recommendations?
I have been looking at:
-Saturn SL2/SC2 5 spd (plastic, non rusting body is a big plus in WI)
-Toyota Celica 5 spd (22re motor is bullet proof)
-Honda Accord 5 spd (1.6L 4 cyl is a very good motor)
-VW jetta TDI (Turbo diesels are just plain cool)
I would like a 96+ b/c that will have OBDII but it is not a must. I don't care one bit what it looks like I just want something that goes forward and doesn't cost much to drive.
Talk to Kwikordead about the VW's You can usually find him in the Superduty forums. He is a VW mechanic and swears by the cars. I know the new Jettas with the diesel are getting a claimed 46mpg.
I have a Honda Civic for my DD. 200k and still get 35-40mpg. The Honda's will run forever with little maintenance.

The Focus just doesn't seem too appealing to me. They are also fairly new on the market and I am looking for something really cheap. Its an option I haven't considered though so I will look into it. Thanks for the idea!
You may want to consider getting a scooter. No, Im not kidding, they make big ones with automatic trannys and huge storage space. Yes, you lose your diginty, but you also get 80-100mpg easy. They are very common in Europe where gas prices are anywhere from $5.00-$6.00 a gallon.
They drive nice, seem like a good small car, but are the most recalled car ever.....steer clear.
Early (2000 - 2001) models were recalled heavily. I just traded in a 2002 ZTS with zero recalls and one dealer repair visit in 30,000 miles (bad rotors from supplier around 10,000 miles). I averaged 28 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway. I would pick a Focus over all the cars you mentioned. They have a great Focus forum called focaljet. Do your research there.
Well I thought that a focus with a 5 speed would get awesome mileage, dont look half bad, and are still a blue oval product, but I relize you just want something for fuel mileage and wouldn't feel bad about thrashing a honda or toyota.
whatever fit's the budjet.
