Auto Hubs Question
I just returned from a speed goat hunting trip and drove on some greasy, muddy roads. When the hubs are in the auto position (2000 F-250), it seems that the front end doesn't lock up when I turn the **** to 4x4, but when the hubs are in the locked position, the front end works great. Any ideas on what the problem could be?

get any prong horns on the trip? the front hubs in the auto pos. are vacuum operated, if they are not engageing in that pos you may have a vacuum leak some where. if you turn on the heater to the floor pos. and then try to switch it in to 4 wheel drive and the air starts comming out the defrost pos. then it is a vacuum leak(with a lose of vacuum the hvac will always send air to the defrost )

if you can find the leak and its in one of the lines its pretty easy. sometimes they leak from the hub seal(which would have to be replaced). i have never done it myself, maybe someone that has will chime in
