i seen a guy runin a 6-71 that he took off a bigtruck and was wanderin mabe if there was an intake that ya could buy or if that would have to have been home built like the rest of that truck.i got one of these 6-71's out in the shop and thinkin of usin it on a 460 i wish that truck was smaller so i couldve got a better look to see how it was done
Specific blower intakes for 460s are available from Hampton's, BDS, Dyer's, & others. Blue Thunder also makes one. The cost is fairly pricey, $700+. Also, diesel 6-71's need modifications to be used for automotive purposes. The complete 460 kits are around $3100-3400, not including carbs, linkage, or air cleaners. It is possible to modify a 4bbl. intake to mount a 6-71; the flow ratings aren't the best. Hope it helps, Mike
The 6-71 I installed my my 390 was a box stock "new" blower for a Jimmy. I removed the end bells, removed the double gears on the end, shortened the shafts, installed a BDS drive and bolted it on using a Blue Thunder blower manifold.
Alot of guys putting these on 460 motors use a tunnelram intake and use just the bottom half. Make a plate to fit intake, then bolt on blower. With shaft centerline dimension, most of mentioned shops can give you the correct belt length.
