Ok,

That's it. It's going to be John Deere Yellow! Sumner Tractor is just down the road and they have JD Yellow in quart cans!

The transmission is going to be black. (anybody got a problem with that?)

Now what am I going to do with the Brand new clutch, pressure plate, throw-out and pilot bearings and 2 bell housings now that I'm going to an automatic? ....speaking of an automatic....anybody have an automatic steering column they don't want?) damm, this thread is longer than oil thread!!!

Ed,

What part of Wa are you in?

Cheers everybody......Pics to follow when I get some paint on that thing!

Ok. I'm confused but maybe someone has figured this out since the last posts. 1959 F350 292 Y block engine. Black block ? Ford red valve covers? Black everything else? Am I close?

Thanks,

Mark

My 64 F-100 w/ 292 had black block with red covers and aircleaner(oil bath) and if I remember correctly black acc. also. The exhaust manifolds/crossover is white with rusty spots.

the 56 292 in my 56 fairlane has a redblock black valve covers and dont know the color of the airfilter assembly the black and red is still on the engine from the factory but the airfilter is rusted so I dont know but I think its a Argent silver color.

Only thing I dont know is about the exhaust manifolds has stock dual exhaust manifolds and not sure if they were natural cast iron or painted I have seen them painted black but I am doing a stock restoration on mine and was thinking about coating them in a cast iron grey coat but I dont know factory might have had them black. If anyone knows about the color of the 56 292 Y block`s please let me know.

The problem with this thread is the newbies dont read the entire thing and the questions have been answered many times.

It just seems real weird that Ford would paint an engine pale yellow? Yellow really is strange for an engine color.....and hard to keep clean compared to red/orange.

Seems weird for ford to paint their engine block/heads/mainfold/lifter valley tray/oil pan Ford engine Red but then paint the valve covers black and then the oil bath air filter a argent silver when GM was painting the valve covers body color and the air filter assembly semi gloss black.

silver valve covers, yellow block and black air cleaner assembly just sounds like a strange combo. Maybe silver aircleaner and valve covers with the yellow block or black valve covers and air cleaner with the yellow block would be a fair combo.
