I own a 99 Ford Ranger with 3.o v6. When starting at cold, it sometimes would start after turning ignition switch and pressing gas and would run fine.
Other times at cold, it will die and after repeadedly idling up throttle would run fine after warming up.In both caes it seems to be idling too low.
Any ideas? Truck has 120k miles, and had been giving great service.
Also, what are the symptons of bad front wheel bearings. easy to fix?
Clean the throttle plate. If it doesn't bypass enouhg air it will not start without giving it some fuel. After cleaning warm the engine to opperating temp. Shut the engine off. Disconnect the IAC and restart the engine, you may have to hold the throttle slightly for it to start. You should be able to back it off slowly and let it idle on its own. If not your hard idle is too slow. Is should only be at 5 or 6 hundred, just enough to idle.
