cruise control problem

cruise control problem

Hi, I recently noticed that my cruise control and horn don't work anymore. This leads me to beleive it's an electrical problem , not a vacuum leak. Any ideas on where to look?

Sounds like the slip ring on the steering colume. The horn, Airbag, and cruise control send there signals thru it.

What year is the truck? I'm not sure what year they switched, by my 98 doesn't use a vacuum operated cruise control anymore. It's servo powered.

thanks for the reply, It's an 87 with a 92 engine, I tihnk from searching the archives it's probably a fuse.

Dave forgive my ignorance but what is the slip ring and does a 1987 ranger have one?

A slip ring is the contact under the steering wheel. Switches mounted on the wheel need to have a sliding contack so the wheel can be turned and not pull the switch wires loose. A 87 is a little older then I'm use to dealing with, but I would thiink it has one.
