Exclamation King Triton & other Master Mechanics

I got this 91 chevy 305 (lO3) TBI that I need to rebuild.

I can do the rebuild no problem, but matching different components to make more power is a downfall for me. That is where you will help out at.

I would love to see 300-350HP but you never know.
I want to keep the TBI & a stock appearance under the hood except for the dual snorkel breather.
I have also been told that the swirl port heads are worth more as a paper weight to they won't be worth porting & polishing.

I think I might have a 350 roller cam block, crank, & rods also, I'll have to check. If I have one, then I'm going to go that route (most 305 internals will work for 350).

Bore & stroke are different from the 305 to the 350. The 305 TBI will not flow enough air & fuel for a 350/350. You might get by with a 350 TBI and computer with a milder combo.

The bore is different between the 305 and the 350 how ever the stroke is the same. This doesn't that the crankshafts are interchangable how ever as the 305 one is balanced differently than the 350.

Bore is different but the stroke is the same. And the 305 TBI will flow enough air & fuel. The TBI units are the same for the 305 & 350. The only thing that I have to do is burn a new computer chip to allow for more air fuel combustion.

Yep cranks are different. I already know that. I also am not going to be the one to put a 305 crank into a 350 block. Why destroke when I want more power out of it?

Did you not read that? I can rebuild a engine, not a problem done it many times. But I have always rebuilt them back to stock. This one I'm not wanting to be stock. So I was asking what componets could be matched together to get more power out of the 305 & 350.

In example.....

Heads, Cam, Lifters, intakes.

You get where I'm going? The bottom ends are built for strength not power.

Seems like a question for Super Chevy magazine. About every 3 months one of those magazines does a feature with a chart showing what interchanges with what.

I googled "Chevy interchange"

http://www.speedwaymotors.com

search for "interchange"

Also try this:
