no forward gear

no forward gear
Just installed c6 tranny and 300 motor into 79 f250 4x4 but can't get it to go into drive, goes into reverse fine.
when I shift from park to reverse it seems to grap drive for a split second then goes into reverse.
unbolted both driveshafts and the yoke on the transfer case spins both forward and reverse and speeds up when reved up, but does not even sound like it goes into to a forward gear
fluids fine,filters brand new, the tranny was just rebuilt, modulator valve is not clogged either, got me baffled, but I'm no tranny expert either, thats why I'm here....any help would be GREATLY appriciated.....
