Another motor mount thread

Motor mounts must be the part of the day or something. Anyways, I need to replace the ones on my 79 f100 with a 302. I am planning on just jacking the engine up and doin it. My question is, where should I put the jack? The oil pan wont hold the weight, will it?

Thanks guys

No it won't.
Some people cut a moon shape out of a piece of hardwood & place that on a jack & go to the harmonic balancer.

I think using a engine lifter is the best way.

where to lift, when to cry

Joe Blow, place a bottle jack on the engine block bottom edge near the bell housing on the side you want to lift. The motor will rock up, remove and replace mount, no pan damage this way. Just thinking about lifting the motor by the damper makes me run, hide and cry with fear. Don't lift by the damper! Carl........o&o>.........
