Washing radiator?

What do you guys use to wash your radiator when bugs are all over it? I was thinking of using my pressure washer but wanted to be sure this wont mess it up.

I'm not too sure about the pressure washer. I tried it on my Honda Civic and it folded some of the metal between the tubes and that was only 1200psi. Perhaps if you turn down the pressure or just backed away form it a little bit it would be better.

I wonder if there is a product out there that will emulsify the bugs so they will disintegrate with less water pressure.

The truck radiators a be a little more heavy duty than the flimsy Honda one.

Just use your garden hose with a pistol grip nozzle and stay back from the front of the truck a couple of feet. If you can get to the radiator through the grill with the stream, it should take off the majority of bug accumulation without damage-but try a small area with care to see what will happen. You might think about cutting and fitting window sreen material and affix it in the front of the radiator. I used the vinyl screen material since it's easier to fold in and around the braces. It's worth a try-people have used this method for years to help keep bugs from clogging their radiators........good luck.

I wouldn't use a pressure washer.......you'd be blasting the AC condensor, which is mucho more $$$ to replace than a radiator. MWH has the right idea; put on a screen after you get it clean. One solution: www.windtrapper.com

I used a brush and lightly brushed it and hosed it off. Worked for me.

just brush it clean with some water and do the screen. i used aluminum and you can kinda see the metal behind the honeycomb grill it looks pretty cool. now i just crub the screen down whenever i wash the truck or finish road trips.
