hey guys, I hope you dont mind me taking advantage of all your knowledge about these trucks!!!LOL Anyway, my edge products is working spectacular...love the extra get up and go...but my max speed is 100 due to the governer..now im not saying Im a speed demon.......................let me reword...I dont go over 100 mph every day, but, how can I raise the limiter??? when I had the superchips programmer, I could raise the limiter, but cant with edge...any ideas of what I can do, or is there anything out there to raise the speed limiter???
You cannot load just the speed limiter removal with the Superchips unit.
You pretty much have two options:
The first is to drop the 400 bucks and buy a Predator; with this you can adjust the transmission shift firmness AND get rid of the limiter, while it will still be safe to run your Edge module since the engine files will not be loaded. This will also enhance the performance and durability of your transmission. That is what I am currently doing now, and it works great.
The second is to install a switch on circuit going to the fuse for the speedometer/cruise control function on the truck. If you install a switch inline with the power going to it (consult your owners manual for the fuse diagram) you can kill the speed limiter by killing power to the speedometer.
BDPower also sells small box that installs inline on the x2 computer connector from the PCM unit to FICM unit that will disable the speed limiter; I think it runs a little shy of 200 dollars.
My vote is just to pick up a Predator from Motorhaven.
