He has fowarded the complaint to Ford but he also said he can only do so much. The tech is not the problem it is the flash as I noticed an immediate difference when I drove off the lot after the reflash. This was not something that slowly developed, it was a HUGE difference the day it was reflashed. One tech in Columbus GA, where it was done, wanted nothing to do with it and looked very hard for any modifications to put the blame on.

All I want is the performance and milage of the truck when I bought it. This crazy and very poor on the part of the Ford which has a great truck.
It is very tuff to have a different truck than you bought...save yourself some misery…and buy a tuner…call MotorHaven and you will be very happy…..AGAIN

guydiver12,
Your hard 2-1 downshifts sound just like mine- Violent was a good description. My wife also commented that "it felt like you hit something" because the downshift was that hard. That was my only issue in July when I brought it in- The tech took the truck on a hill and it did the same for him. So hard (violent) that he took off the drain pan of the transmission to check for debris! Found none. Re-filled transmission and did the July flash and I have been great ever since. I towed the boat quite a bit (1,000 miles) after the re-flash with zero hard downshifts.

In fact, I have driven about 5,000 miles since the re-flash and am very pleased with performance, mpg and overall operation. It really sounds like you have the same issue that I did. Good luck.

I understand your issue but mine is somewhat different as I never had the "violent" downshifts(fact is in the tow/haul mode they are almost non-existant NOW), in addition it has decrceased performance/mpg along with too smooth shifts both up and down, and it now takes longer for it to start.

This is the main reason I have posted as I dont want to spend the money to buy any modifications as Ford has the potential to bring this truck back to where it was when I pusrchased it. Any Attorneys out there????

I have a 75 f250 4x4 w/390 that I do mods to and it is a screamer! I want my "new" truck as it was when I bought it. It did what I wanted it to do, no mods, no changes, nothing. My Uncle that owns a Dogde w/cummins loved the way my F350 drove, almost traded his for a new 6.0. The truck was great. Maybe when it has 200,000mi I may choose to have mods done but not right now. I am not into spending the money when Ford had it right and went about changing it. I know there many great mods out there and they do great things, but I just want the truck stock for now. Ford can do this but they are trying to cater to everyone and it does not work. I, like most of you out there use my truck to pull with, it is not a grocery getter and family wagon that is "too loud" or not comfy enough nor do I use it to drag race mustangs or other brand name trucks. I have beat the crap out of chebby going up hill on East I-40 towards Flagstaff AZ pulling a 7,500lb trailer

Some folks have talked about a re-flash for emissions that brings back some of the losses. I have no idea if your truck would be eligible, though.

I had an 03 6.0PSD that had the same thing happen after the 2nd flash. I had a lot of other issues and ford was forced to buy it back. One of the prime reasons I didn't get another to replace it was the fact that ford just does not seem to care what the customer wants when it comes to issues like this.

Thanks UtahTom. I'll talk to the 6.0 tech and see what he thinks. I'm getting close to 30,000,think I'll wait til then. Have a adjustable pedals problem...they quit working. Checked the fuse, looks O.K. I'm gonna try and replace my own air filter, I hear it can be a real bear to do...but I'm sure I've done worse things. Thanks again, good luck with your truck.

Jeb, I somewhat agree that they dont care. They are now on the 05/06 PSD's and what does a 03 have for them or against them. I almost thought of getting an 05 but why would I give Ford anymore money when they cant work out any issues for me and others out there.

Fact is, I love the truck it has been great. I had read many post of which programmer to get and mods to make, maintenance schedules, ect... Not sure how the 05 stacks up, any takers out there on the performance and capabilities of the newer ones??

A little progress here, just talked with customer service and explained the situation and the numerous run around phone calls and answers. She asked what I would like done, explained I would like my truck back to its original performance and operations if that could not be done then buy it back or trade it in on a new one. She said they would look into it and contact the dealership as well as regional rep and work out a solution.

Question who has gone down this road and what can I expect?? Sounds like something could come of this but "hope for the best and expect the worse" is in effect. I would really like my truck back to the way it was when I bought it!!!!
