I'm looking at the Borla system for my 4x4 5.4. I'm not into loud exhaust but do like a V8 to sound like a V8. I was told the Borla was muted and well made. I was quoted a $795 price tag. Anyone out there get a better price or a similar product at a better price.
Gibson.
You can get aluminum or stainless steel, out the back or out where it is now, dual or single, good warranty, on the stainless anyway. Not too loud at cruising, sounds pretty good anytime accelerating. Stainless duals run a little less than $500.00, vendors were paying shipping.
Check out motorhaven.com, proficientperformance.com, and truckperformance.com for some pricing. Is 795 installed? Are you looking at a single swept side, or a version of duals? I can also vouch for Gibson. They provide a low rumble, with good power gains. Check out the link in my signature, for some sound clips of a Gibson system on a past bronco. I thought it sounded very nice.
I just installed the Borla cat-back dual exit a couple days ago and I would highly reccomend the system. The quality is top notch and superior to Gibson products IMO. The muffler is straight through for good flow and the sound is not very loud. No drone but a deep exhaust note. My second choice would be magnaflow but at this point they don't have a dual rear exit system for the 04'. You can get the borla dual system off of ebay for $590.00 delivered.
Ive had the Borla split rear on my truck for some time now and still love it. But I bought mine off of e-bay for $554.99 with free delivery. I know you can get a better price than $795.
i got the Corsa system. Nice low rumble at full throttle & good acceleration. i just wish I had my truck. Brakes failed at 6000 mi and she's sitting in the shop.
I install the borla exhaust and it sounds great, you wouldn't know it had it,except for start up and in the throttle. now I'm in the throttle all the time just to hear it talk!! love'n it

MagnaFlow does have a dual cat back system for the '04 because that is what I had installed on my '04 FX4 just 4 weeks ago. I had it installed and with 2 18in chrome tips out the back for around $400. Sounds awesome.
I was just quoted a system that consisted of magnflow dual outs for $430. Is it worth it? Also, what do you think...should I go straight out the back or bent at an angle behind the rear tires? The latter looks great, but I'm told the tips get extremely dirty and last a third as long. If I went straight out the back I would use the SVT look-a-like tips. Anyone have pictures of this set-up?
Avoid Flowmaster if you don't want a loud exhaust system. I had one on my 2001 F150. Gibson gets a lot of good press on other forums. If you decide on Borla, shop around, $795.00 is too much.
FYI...someone tell me if I'm wrong here, but the Flowmaster has a one year warranty and Magnaflow has lifetime warranty. Since you want a quieter muffler than the Magnaflow may be up your alley. Oh yea, it's cheaper as well.
