If you want a real torquer. Drop in a Lincoln 462 in stock form, they aren't near as heavy as a 534, more on the size and weight of an FE engine, probably a little heavier then the FE but not a lot. I own a 67 Lincoln convertible with the 462. The car weights in at 6,000 pounds and the 462 will burn the tires, and that is with a pretty tall rear, I think it is a 300:1 or very close.
I know I'm getting off topic for this thread but is there still after market parts for the 462 like intake manifolds and cam shafts? I was once looking at an nice old Continental Convertible but I picked up a 67' Galaxie convertible because 390 parts are still available.
They are plenty of rebuild parts avalible but as far as speed parts, they are almost non exhistant. In the late fifties Lincoln did make a three duce set up for the 430 which would fit the 462, and way back in the late fifties and the early sixties some after market manu. was making either a three duce or two four set up for them. The truth of the matter is they are strong runners right out of the box in stock form. I have an extra 462 sitting in my shop that I have been saving for a pickup or possible an F-600 rod hauler truck.
If you read a few posts down here in the 534 forum you will find a thread that contains links to one or two web sites devoted to the GMC V6 and V12 with a lot of good information.
Yea, I also posted a Hall Scott site. Here's the GMC bent 6 site. Check out the torque and hp listed next time someone says you can't make low end out of a V6.
