Timing change without egr?

I have a 2bbl w/egr and I am changing it to a 4bbl wo/egr. How much if any will the timing change? Would it be better to just stay with the egr?

It is better to stay with the EGR if it works. If you run without EGR there are adjustments to the distributor you can make. Initial timing stays the same.

Now I have decided to stay with the EGR manifold, because I dont want to mess around with the distributor. I have some rubber hoses that go into the top of the air cleaner, that go into the charcoal cansister that eventually run back into the EGR. I want to put an after market air cleaner on for more air intake. Can I bypass these lines and still be ok? I think one or two of the lines go into the top of the air cleaner into what I think is some kind of element. I would remove these two lines.

Leave the OEM airbox on the engine. Those aftermarket air cleaners are bad news. They pull in hot under hood air in the summer and cause carb icing in the winter. Keep the stocker working properly or see some of the threads here on adding a larger air box or cold air intake.
