Where's the power?

or do I expect too much. I test drove a 95 F-350 CC dualie 2wd, with 460/5spd. It had 116k miles, and had been used to pull a 5th wheel. This truck had no getup and go, it drove nice, but could barley chirp the tires making a sharp turn. Was it just tired? Is it more powerful then it feels? I just expected it to be faster than it was. I need something to pull cars on the freeway, and it felt like my current rig would have done a lot better.

i would be wary of the truck then. my 351w breaks the tires loose easily. just give it 1/4 throttle from a standstill and there they go.burn outs are easy as well. just floor it. stock 351w. while peeling out or burn outs really isn't a good judge of power, a 460 in a heavyduty truck that SHOULD have much better gearing than what i have, should smoke the tires fairly easy. if it felt like it had no power and could barely chirp the tires its probably just as you figured. to tired to be useful. but on second thought. you said it was a dually which should give it good traction i would think. so that might explain it. all i can say is drive another truck similar and compare. good luck finding what ya want.
