Time to change shocks

It's time to change the original factory shocks on my '88 F-150 4x4. It does not have the quad shock option.

I'm not incredibly mechanichally inclined, but it looks like I should be able to do this myself.

Is this as straight forward as it looks? possible pitfalls?

Thanks in advance.

Just as it looks.. easy

You still have the factory shocks from 1988?

I would expect for you to see a much improved ride after you have finished installing your shocks What brand are you going to go with?

Yeah, I bought the truck in January. Thought the shocks seemed a little bouncy. Crawled underneath and sure enough, the factory shocks.......

Yes, I anticipate a superior ride.

I am leaning towards one of a couple of Monroe shocks, the exact names escape me, it's written down at home.

I am also considering the Pro Comp ES-3000, 4 wheel parts is running a special.

Any suggestions?

not sure the price range you are looking in... but I have bilsteins and absolutely love them. I have the 5100 series, but they also make some for factory replacements. Them and rancho I have always had good luck with.

One thing to remember, 4 wheel parts and pro-comp are "business partners" one of them owns the other, I am not sure which owns which. They often have specials on their pro-crap products, and will often push them over all the other products. When ordering my lift from 4wheel parts they said why don't you go with pro-comp blah blah blah.. its a better spring this better that. What a bunch of BS.. i have loked at the quality of leaves and bracketry from pro-comp... very inferior. So just take 4 wheel part's advice with a grain of salt...

I'm looking to stay under $50 each for the shocks. It is my daily driver with little to no off roading. No towing. Need a shock with good control and ride.

It is the Monroe Sensatrac or Reflexes that I am leaning to.
