Computer "resets" at most startups?
Anybody notice this? When I start my 00 Expedition 4x4 5.4l with 56k, the computer seems to reset almost everytime. What I see is the gauges all going to the far right after startup. The trucks seems to run okay afterward, but sometimes it does not start up with a short key turn like it always did before. It might take a little longer to actually get started now.

Clean and tighten the battery connections? If you disconnect the battery for a period of time and then reconnect, the guages are supposed to do exactly what you're describing. Perhaps there is a loose connection but not enough to prevent contact when you try to start?

I echo the battery is going south. Mine went out after four years and my wife's only lasted two and a half. When the gauges peg they are saying the battery is going. Take it to a store and have it checked and then replace it before you are stranded somewhere you do not want to be.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and suggest that you get a new battery. Now I know others may not agree but...uhhh...oh...why look....others have said the same thing...

Definately the battery.
Don't get stuck on some cold night. Consider that the trck is telling yu something.
If it's a group 65 battery Prostart (Pepboys) and Motorcraft Tested Tough batteries came in at top two in the Nov 2004 issue of Consumers Reports.
