Slow kick down?
I have an AOD in my 88. Ever since I have owned my truck when I am in overdrive and I get me foot into the gas it takes almost 6 or 7 seconds to kick down to third. It is not that big of a deal but it does get scary when you try to pass someone and it does not want to kick down right away. Is there some type of adjustment or something? Also when I put it in drive from park it takes a little while to engage, again not that big of a deal but it does get old. Thanks!

Sounds like the vacuum regulator may be going. AOD is a vacuum actuated tranny as I recall. Make sure you have a good vacuum supply to it with no leaks. If thats not the problem the regulator is replacable. Not sure about cost and such as I have had nothing but E4(oh god)s in mine!

just the oposit grey your think of C6. the AOD is controled by the TV cable it may be out of adjustment. when was the last tranny service done this to could cause hesitation in the tranny to some degree. get a haynes manual and it should explain how to adjust the tv cable , just be carful and make little adjustments at a time cus to much can damage tranny. or have a shop do it if you prefer.
