Sorry if this has been posted before, I did try a search. Between 45 and 60 mph I have been hearing a humming noise. It goes away when you let off of the accelerator, and comes right back when the accelerator is applied. I talked to my service advisor and he said he would have to hold off on any attempt to repair it right now. He did find another report almost exactly like the one I made. He said it is still under investigation. What gives, they will not try and repair it without a sure fix that has been documented already. Any info would be helpful......Thanks
I would say that the 1st step would be to locate the source of the humming-then decide what's causing it and then if it needs fixed or whatever, do it. This is information that should have been provided to you by the service dept and also, a good reason for needing documentation and/or not fixing or finding the cause at the time you brought your vehicle into the dealer.
There is a TSB to add stop leak pellets to the cooling system to top the humm. For some reason the noise is coming thru the heating system and the stop leak pellets help. We have done this to several 04 F150's and it cured the problem.
the humming is the rear end this has been discussed a thousand times they are not shimed right from the factory either have it fixed or turn up the radio
Sorry, if I didn't see one of the thousand posts. I did several searches and didn't find anything. I don't live my life on forums, but thanks for the info.
Have you tried to switch off the overdrive to see if stops. Have the same problem, but it goes away when I switch off the overdrive. Haven't taken it in yet.
