I have a 76 f100 4x4. Theres a 76 f100 2x4 for sale down the street ..good parts truck. My questions. Is the axles the same? Is the steer box the same?
the steering box isn't the same according to cross referencings parts. the rear end in both should be the same though. it would make a good parts vehicle for your truck.
In what condition is the parts truck? Is it a swb or a lwb? What trim? I currently own a 74 F100 LWB 2x4 and decided I wanted a SWB 2x4 and can't seem to find one. I recently decided that if I cannot find a 2x4 might as well go for a 4x4 and convert it to 2x4 since I have no use for 4x4 just love the look of the 73 - 79 2x4 models. Especialy the 79 models with all the chrome on the outside. I recently found one in Texas close to where I live but it is a 4x4 and it looks very nice. The other reason I don't want a 4x4 is for gas mileage reasons. What is an estimated MPG for a 4x4 with mud tires?

The truck appears to be in good shape...engine is no good. Its a long bed. He wants $250...a steal if i can use alot of the parts. My truck is a stepside. As far as mileage...pretty darn bad!
The rear suspension as far as the hangers and such are for the most part the same... The front suspension on the other hand is totally different ... Stuff bolted to the body and to the engine are the same parts... Stuff related to the front suspension are totally different... All your chassis cross memebers after the front suspension are the same...
