I tried 14 qts this time, and it was just at the tip top of the black plastic, right where it tapers to the wire. I'll try 13.5 at next change.By the way,I looked a bottle of Rotella synthetic at Wal-Mart,but it was not rated CI-4,only CH-4. The 6.0 specifies CI-4,and from what I understand,it is an antifoaming additive that changes the rating.Anyone know any different? I changed to Pennzoil, the flex spout on the gallon jugs is a great idea, makes pouring easy, and I can fill the empties with the old oil again, costs me half the price of the dealer, and I KNOW it gets done right. Wally world has the Motorcraft filters now, about $17 and change here in N.Louisiana.
Go to the Shell Rotella T syn website and look at the spec sheet. It says it is CI-4. They probably have a lot of the bottles marked CH-4. You can use CH-4 anyway. Here is something I got off the API site:
These oils are specifically formulated to sustain engine durability where Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) is used and the impact of these oils on other supplemental exhaust emission devices has not been determined. Optimum protection is provided against corrosive and soot-related wear tendencies, piston deposits, degradation of low- and high-temperature viscometric properties due to soot accumulation, oxidative thickening, loss of oil consumption control, foaming, degradation of seal materials, and viscosity loss due to shear.
