Hello,
I just bought my first powerstroke, a 2002 Excursion, and have a lot of questions for you guys.
I was looking under the hood, and noticed a lot of oil and grime on the top of the motor. It was so dirty I had to clean it, then drive it around until the leak showed up.
It appears to be coming out of the short pieces of hose used to connect the intercooloer plumbing.
Is this normal? Are there aftermarket hoses that are better? I was thing of going to Heavy Vehicle Parts and buying plain 3" turbo hose to replace the stock pieces with.
Any ideas?
Seems to be a lot of oil in the boost.
Regards,
Paul lOW

Do a search on "CCV mod". You most likely don't have a boost leak. The crankcase vent is blowing engine oil mist into the turbo intake and it's making it's way out at the boots. Also filling your intercooler with oil. The CCV mod eliminates the problem.

Yeah, you won't stop the oil coming out until you do this mod.
You really shouldn't need any high dollar boots, the stockers will hold just fine. Do the CCV mod as suggested to permanently rid yourself of the oil leaks, and after cleaning the boots give them a little shot of hairspray on the inside to seal them up.
