DIY supercharger or turbocharger?

hey all,

was browsing around on ebay and came across a supercharger for the 3.8 thunderbird supercoupe, which the auction states can be slapped onto the 3.8 mustang.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...spagename=WDVW

It got me thinking....
How hard would it be to custom fab this onto the 4.2? considering you can get all the parts CONSIDERABLY less than a full kit, and it would be kinda fun.

My coworker once floated an idea of taking the turbos off of a supercoupe (not sure what year) and making a turbo kit, so all this talk gets me all hot and bothered. If the work isn't SOOO bad, i'd be willing to try to do some custom s/c or turbo work....

Anyone want to speculate on this?

If you feel the need to retro-fit a 3.8L intake, or make a 97-2000 intake fit, go for it.

Id say good luck

I was also wondering, what have people here down as far as transmissions go? I know that people are changing out gears and whatnot, but has anyone swapped in a mustang tranny or even just a shorter stick? possibly a short-shift kit? The stick in the f-150 reminds me of my buddy's stick shift vw vanogan....all the way down to the floor!!

No tranny swaps as far as I know. The bolt pattern on the bell housing (i think, someone who knows trannies correct me) is different. It also would have to be custom. Hurst has been said to be introducing a short throw shifter for the f150, but this has been said for over 1.5 years. Who knows when it will actually be for sale.

I also have a supercharger kit available...It is the only one in production. Vortech head unit, fresh rebuild, so 0 miles, everything you need, 8 psi pulley...You could make right around 270 rwhp with his setup.
