Hey guys, i was woundering if i use a new transmission crossbar (in my 1950 ford f-1 with a 302) for a newer 4 speed manual (any good ideas for what transmission to use?)would i have to remove my old crossbar and replace it with the new one or how does this work. cause i heard that the crossbars are bolt in so that would proabably dictate where my engine mounts would go right?? i am getting slightly confussed by all of this maybe i should just buy the things and see what it looks like... any help would be great, thanks,

I went with a crossmember with a built-in brake cylinder mount for my 50 F-1 with a 351W/C4. Didn't quite work with my aftermarket power brake pedal and M/C. Now changing to a bolt in mount from TCI for the 48-52 Ford. Hope it is what I need.
I cut the center out of the original cross member and then made a bolt in section with the new trans mount on it. If you go with a new crossmember you will have to remove at least part or all of the old one.
