The only first hand experience I have heard is from PSD 60L Fx4 who destroyed his pistons and engine before any damage happened to the turbo. That article is interesting but all hearsay and "I talked to this guy..." and "the experts said....".
He stated he only had ONE first hand experience (that of Matt) and then goes on to quote.... how do you end up with
but if you want to dismiss one of the premier "experts" as "hearsay" go ahead. You can read the following from Gale Banks and make your own decision.
He never did dismiss anyone!
Banks as a premier "expert" sorry to say he can hold his own along with 20 other very credible and knowledgeable turbo "people"

“THE” article says Other experts, and One expert gauge manufacturer …who… what are their names… what was the criteria used to evaluate them as experts ……………most here will challenge blanket statements (experts claim) both for authenticity and knowledge base.

Tim,
All I have said all along was that I placed mine pre-turbo and the reasons why and posted the articles and places I attained my info from so people could make their own choice. I do feel that Banks is one of the premier experts in the field and if anyone on this board has more experience than he and his company does, or has any reason that he should not be listened to I would love to listen. BTW, I do agree that blanket statements need to be looked at with a jaundiced eye as to motive.
I felt the 3 companies and several mechanics that I personally spoke with were being dismissed as hearsay and therefore had no validity. If I came to a wrong conclusion then I stand corrected.

They were, we have NO knowledge of the experience or how smart they really are....
and...As I wrote before…Banks is only ONE of 10 or 30…he is not at the top of the turbo world….any time the Banks name comes up I will usually challenge it...that is just me

By the way do not take this personal it is not about you,…it is about many making statements about the 6.0 (all areas) that cannot back it up, we see this constantly with dealerships…one would think they should have a handle on... what is correct about the 6.0….one would think..
Keep posting
