Hi, my dad has a 2002 Ranger XLT 4x4 with the 4.0L V6. As soon as the odometer hit 65,000 miles, the check engine light came on. Nothing is wrong, every thing works but the light won't go off. He is getting rid of next Sat., getting a 04 F-150 4x4 5.4. Were not gettin rid of the ranger because of the light, we just need a little bit stronger truck. You can see the Ranger under the galleries. Just put in 2002 Ford Ranger 4x4. Thanks Everybody!
I have a similar situation with the check engine light.
It came on and off, then stayed on. Code was 1131 I think, Auto Zone read it. Said it was a "DealerCode." Something about running lean.
I cleaned the mass air flow wires and the throttle body. Neither were very dirty. I changed out the fuel filter, It was very plugged up and the warning light went out like clockwork after three starts from cold.
Then I went out on the road again and it came back. I don't know what to check now. It seems like my oxygen sensor is working. Or, is it?
