99 exped. 4.6 idle problem
i have a 99 exped., when i start vehicle engine idle goes erradic,dles down immed. and vehicle dies-- I have replaced egr valve,didnt fix prob, could it be a bad idle air control valve? if not what could the problem be?

It's likely the Idle Air Control valve. Mine died at about 53k on my 1999 4.6
Easy to replace on a 4.6, do a search on IAC replacement. Note that the location of an IAC is a little different on a 4.6 than the 5.4 engines you'll read about. It's on the driver's side of the engine. Remove the plastic "4.6" cover over the top of the engine to see it. Consists of a bright silver tube held with two bolts and connected to two wires.
