I have my DSB hearing scheduled for next week for my 04/03 F250 CC. Does anyone now how many changes have occured since the release of the 2003 6.0 engine? I saw a post some time ago that listed all the changes from 2003 to 2004 but have not been able to find it again. Were there significant changes for the 2005 version?

7 Camshaft - Duration, and lift
8 Pistons - modified
9 Glow plugs - 1.2 mm shorter
10 Water pump - increased impeller diameter
11 FICM - Upgraded
12 FICM brackets - multiple pieces and larger isolators
13 GPCM bracket - modified
14 Intake manifold - Modified
15 Crankcase breather - Moved
16 Crankcase breather hose
17 Compressor inlet hose - Because of new breather
18 Turbo - 3 additional fins/270 thrust bearing.
19 Turbo mounting backet
20 Stand pipes - Because of new high pressure oil rails
21 Branch tube - goes with stand pipe
22 Rexroth pump - More pressure

I don't think that all the changes improved performance or mileage. They don't make changes unless there is a cost benefit. I seem to remember a post somewhere showing the early 03 with better performance than the 04s. Wasn't that Choctaw Bob and JD?

 

It does seem to be...the 03's with no re-flash are better in the performance arena
