Corey, do a search on Google and see what comes up. Diesel Man just said how to look at the VIN. All 6.0 PSD engines are made in Indianapolis. Trucks are assembled in Louisville or Mexico. Philip.
Wait a minute! The Home of the Super Duty is KTP LT. TRK. (Kentucky)
I just went through this same process of elimination. Compaired all trucks available. Many late nights up on the internet. Sleepless nights with thoughts about my 45k and is the truck going to get done what I need it for. Personal issues I have delt w/Ford about in the past. I was giving up a perfect 01' Ram 1500 QC SLT 5.9L Gas. Only had 42,000 great miles on it. Never a problem. Had the inside help of a Fleet Manager to get the best deal on the new 05 2500 Cummins 4X4 QC. Looked at everything and made what I feel was the best choice. The 2005 F250 SD CC PSD 4X4 was my choice. I'm happy. I had to eat alot of crud from friends, from all the trash I had talked about Ford in the past. The truck is still new only 750mi. on the clock. So far I'm Very Very Happy... It's got alot of new design changes great new features and I hope I'll have years of good use with my new truck..
Diesel Man, go with the Ford. I looked at the GM and Dodge diesels, too. Went with Ford because of room, power, and looks. And email 1956MarkII if you want a quote under invoice. BTW, I still own a 1990 F150 XLT-Lariat (yeah, it's what they called em back then) with 176K on it and it's still running strong. Sure, it has a litttle blow-by, but it's damn near 15 yrs old. I plan on leaving my new 2004 F250 Lariat 4x4 CC PSD in my will.

Good Luck with the new truck. You only have 750 miles but soundsgood so far. Its a tough descision on what truck to get. $30,000 on a truck takes some serious consideration and study. But really the superduty is the only way to go. Its theultimate truck. Fords the only thing I grew up with. I wouldnt think of driving anything else. My trucks have never let me down.
The Ford Super-Duty is made in Louisville and Mexico. With you living in the Southwest, chances are you would end up with a Meican built truck. Philip.
It may be because of our location, but we've had only one Mexican-built Super-Duty come through here in the past 2 years. It's my understanding that they only bring 'em in from south of the border when they absolutely have to, and that the Mexican trucks are slated for export sales, not the U.S. The one we received was a regular-cab; I've never seen a Super- or Crew-Cab that wasn't built in Louisville.
And yes, I'm the guy that will sell you a 2005 SD for $500 below invoice. You have to pick up the truck here in Western New York state, and I see you live in CA. Believe it or not, I've had FTE'rs drive or fly in from CA, AZ, FL, VA, MD, CT, PA, NH, KY, IL, OH- the list goes on. Who'd have ever thought......
Have to post in response to utahtom just for the record and future searches. I have the FX4 and it has SERIOUS steering wander. My 2000 Explorer is TIGHT. The F250s may not ALL be the same, but this steering wander requires CONSTANT attention, adjustment. (Seen those old movies where the people are driving '40s and '50s vehicles, swinging the steering wheel side to side the ENTIRE time? Well, the super duties aren't that bad. But, mine has a whole lot of play. Lessens the joy of the drive a small amount, not enought to replace the SD. Unfortunately, some have tried to have dealer remedy this but I think their results were poor. Just have to live with it and pay close attention to next Sd purchase (mine was used, a good deal, and my other truck had just died).
