I've been discussing with, and gathering advice from, other pickup owners here at work, the the collection of repairs and improvements I've been making to my '89 150C, 4x4. It's only a weekend toy and I just want it back to where it's not an embarassment on the road.
One of the persons, a 20 something kid from the shop floor, has a '96 Ram with every possible doo-dad bolted to it. It looks as if he dumps his (under $500, bi-weekly) paycheck at the local auto accessories stores. Lights, running gear, , scoop, winch, roll bar, speakers, bed extender, big tires, spinners, chrome flames, blah, blah... and the list goes on.
An older guy, with an equally old Ford and I were leaving the plant the same time and got to watch this kids truck rumble out of the lot at dusk. He had the stereo blasting and had every light, in and under the truck, turned on.
The old timer just snorted and mumbled "Disco Truck" and walked away. About half way home it hit me that the kids truck was, in fact a disco on wheels.
It got me wondering, are there any "Disco Trucks" where you're at and are they a bad thing?
They are all over the place in this college town. Lots of trucks with stupid crap on them, spinners and lights and junk. There's even two Dodge 'El Camino' things all hopped up. But there are also competant trucks as well, lifted F250s, jeeps, chevys, etc. You name it theres one here lifted.
