Does anyone know how the heck I would I change out a Heater Core? Does anyone have links available for that?.... What book is best to buy? Has anyone done this before on their own? We don't have $500+ to spend on fixing this....So I"m stuck fixing this "the cheapest" way possible. Anyone have some tips? '97 F150
the Haynes manual is my personal preferance. i replaced the heater core on my 90 f150 it wasnt that hard, but i aint to sure if it would be any thing like the newer trucks. it is located on the passenger side behind the glove box.
well - i'll just say that my dad and i did mine a while ago. not too much fun. the whole dash gets to come out. lots and lots of little screws - try and remember where they all go - we ended up with extras. not cool. it took us 2 days because we sleep and have other things going on too, but i have heard like 4-6 hours (give or take). also take your time as everything is plastic and may break easily. good luck
Yeh.... my mother in law is "helping" me. She'll be using a pad and pen to make a diagram of where everything came from and using little baggies to keep screws in. lol At least it will be very organized! Hey guys... thanx much for help!

Reason: misspelled word
A related question that perhaps Racerguy might answer.
I own a 2003 4.6 Scab with about 17k on the odo. What is the best way to prevent a heater core from springing a leak? I guess what I am asking is what sort of service to the cooling system and how often should the cooling system be serviced to prevent this from happening?
