Lift it

When I get done with school I want to lift my 1995 F150 2wd 2". I just replaced the stock rubber with some hefty BFG's of the same size, except the tread is aggressive enough that it looks wrong. I want to lift it so that it looks a little tougher and so I can take advantage of the tires. Yeah yeah yeah, I know its a 2wd, but I take it hunting and down gravel/logging/dirt roads just like it was a 4x4. It also takes frequnt trips through pastures and fields so I know it can handle the terrain. Anybody know of any good lift kits that take care of everything or at least of a bunch of kits that I can use to do this all in a weekend?

Well, if it can already get through the terrain you want it to, and you arent looking for performance enhancement, go cheaper. A set of rear lift blocks and lift springs will be a nice cheaper way to give the truck the lifted look you want. blocks'll run from 20-50 bucks, springs are around 100. Another way would be a body lift, which are around 80-100 bucks.

No body lifts, they look cheesey to me. Is there anything else I will have to worry about? Pinion angle, brake lines, steering, ect?

just get an alignment you will be fine. the front lifted 2-4 inches will have no ill affects on anything other than gas milage.

How is the lift going to affect gas milage? I am not putting bigger tires on, the ones on now are big enough, so no need to regear either. Would I get better performance out of lift blocks or 2" lift springs?

31's, and they fill the wheel wells like no tomorrow. Did the rough country come as a kit for front and rear? So blocks won't give me any troubles?

nah, you should be fine with the block, its just a small one and the front comes with springs and drop down brackets.

less aerodynamic = poorer gas milage

autofab, camburg, giant, and fabtech all make kits for that truck.you can also take rancho, superlift, etc 4x4 kits and use them on your truck.the i beam height is different than the height of a ttb but not by much.if you get a kit from the first four you will get realigned beams which means no drop brackets and more ground clearance.also without drop brackets there is far less stress on the frame.dont let the fact that its two wheel drive stop you from using it no matter what others say.if you want to make it 4x4 its not that difficult, the 4x4 stuff bolts in and depending where you live it should be junkyard available.

Don't worry, I use it like is a 4x4 with lockers. I have never gotten stuck to where I couldn't use the fact that its a stick to rock it out of the problem.
