oil gauge
can anyone tell me what could cause my oil pressure gauge to not work properly? I know it works somehow? When I turn the key on there is power to it and it reigsters high as it will go then when the engine is running it goes all the way over to the lowest side. I know some possibilities but not suere which to check first,( i.e most common or easiest). Plugged pick up screen in oil pan, bad sender- location on engine?, bad wiring or connection -have to find it first, any other thoughts? someone told me that it operates on a negative current? don't know what that is thanks in advance for the help

get yourself a haynes manual. its probably the sender unit located right by the oil filter. the wire going to it might have also come loose or fell off completely. personally the factory gauge is garbage. best bet would be to get yourself a mechanical gauge and mount it inside the cab or A pillar. it will give you a true reading. cuz you may have more issues then just a gauge going if the sender works but then shows low when running.
