If you have an automatic transmission, the switch for the backup lights is combined with the neutral safety switch in the transmission. If you have a manual there will still be a switch in the tranny to trigger the backup lights, just different from the neutral safety combo in the auto.
Plenty of oil it is when it warms up about 55 she rattles like a son of gun. also every blue moon on start up. the guy i bought it from said he replaced the valves and rockers. i havent looked yet until i can get a idea on a heads up.
i wouldnt drive it tell you figure it out. could have bent valves or bad lifters. have you checked the timing? it should be between 8*-10* btdc with spout connector removed. but this could do more harm to your motor driving it.
just set the timing and its good i figure that it would be the lilfters so i am going to check this week. if it is none of that do yo uthink it could be the oil pump?
If it was the oil pump you would have spun a bearing or thrown a rod by now. Like Kem said, how's the actual oil PRESSURE. Lots o' oil doens't necessarily mena its getting everywhere it needs to. I would tend to believe its sticky lifters more than anything. Might try a detergent product like CD-2 in place of a quart or 2 of oil. But do make certain you are getting good oil pressure before you go driving it. Sticky lifters are still less expensive than stuck pistons!
The oil passages could be clogged up allowing the lifters to collapse at higher rpm. Try running some Sea Foam in it for a while to flush out the passages. Then do an oil change using any filter except Fram.
Kem, if you really want to drain your life savings you can put a Mobil One filter in it! They are fantastic filters but you will spend upwards of $12 on one.
