hi all, i have a good one for you.the drivers door hinges on my 69 are shot.
i got a new set of hinges, and changed the top one.now the bottom one is the problem.the back bolt is a mass or rust about 6" around, and i can't turn it at all.
the other two i can get out.
has anyone ever run into this.
i was thinking about cutting off the rusted out fender, and going in through the fire wall, since it's rusted out anyway.then i also would need to do the fender.(it's got more fiberglass and rust than metal left.)
i've been looking for a complete body for a few years, figured it would be alot easier, but i guess that's not going to happen this year.
thanks all
Most of the time it is the brass hinge pin that is shot - is it possible to remove the door from the truck, leaving only the lower hinge and then driving the hinge pin out?
If you did that you could either just replace the pin in the old hinge, or mate the pin and door part of the hinge from the new hinge to the old truck side part of the hinge.
I think I would try that before I cut any new holes in my truck!
i can cut the head off the old bolt, but then i'm still stuck with putting the new one on.the old one is so rusted to the inner support i won't be able to get anything to hold to.
and the fender has been fiberglassed together, so i won't be able to remove.
i tried to get the floor vent off to go in that way, but the philips screws are a little rusted on.i've been spraying oil on them for a week or so, and their still stuck.
thanks all
