replacing hoses and t-stat

replacing hoses and t-stat
i'm going to replace my hoses and t-stat this week end , what temp t-stat should i go with? i do a lot of highway drive and inner city driving. any suggestions on a temp?? the stat has to be replaced the truck is overheating on the highway, the water pump is working fine and radiator isn't clogged . my truck is 84 f150 inline six, with 163,000 and i don't know when the last t-stat was put in, the radiator is fairly new and the water pump is too. any ideas will help alot. thanks

I don't know what came with the truck in stock form (185 degree F maybe) but I have a 165 degree unit in my 79 and it has worked great for several years. I know that the heater does not blow as hot as a 185 but the cooler engine temp is worth it to me.
