That sinkin ding dong!

There have been many discussions about the ignition chime and the best way to deal with it, is to not leave your keys in there to begin with.
I sometimes get annoyed by it, so I either take the key out or just shut the door. There may be a fuse or a "sound box" for it, but I'm, not sure where it is.
An OASIS report can either help or hurt you. It will tell you, a used Ford buyer, or the dealer, the history of any Ford vehicle. For example, whenever you take your truck in for maintenance or for any type of repair, it's recorded on the report. Whatever the problem was, how much it cost to fix, what parts had to be replaced, and maybe even how long it sat in the shop is recorded. My guess is that the report is used to determine the resale value on any said Ford vehicle. If you took your truck in for most, if not all the required maintenance and you had few, maybe minor repairs, the dealer will offer you more for your trade. On the other hand, if you seldom took your truck in for maintenance and problems always arose, then they would give you a ridiculously low offer. This happens because they have to absorb the cost of fixing whatever else may be wrong with the truck and whatever else could go wrong. It also tells the dealer and any other Ford dealer, what you've done to the truck. For example, non-ford aftermarket parts; such as chips, tuners, exhaust systems, exhaust brakes (a big no-no on these trucks), and whatever else you may have done to it. So take good care of your truck!
Lastly, (don't get me wrong) but as a new member on FTE, I highly suggest reading the guidelines here and here before you decide to post again. Good luck and again, welcome to FTE!
You can do one of two things. You can cut the wire, or you can pull the connector apart, pull out the red locking piece in the middle of the connector, and release the pin from the connector, tape it up, and re-assemble the connector. I did the second on mine.
The switch for the open door chime is located in the door behind the latch. So when the door is closed, the latch is pushing on the switch. All I do is take a screwdriver (or my key) and slide it into the latch, and push, acting as the striker. It latches, I remove my screwdriver, and voila. The dome light stays off, radio on, door open. No problems. I didn't have to modify anything.
When I get ready to close the door (it won't close when the latch is already latched), I put my screwdriver back into the latched mechanism, pull and hold the door handle, and slide the latch back into the open position. Back to normal.
