I am a new owner of a 2004 F-150 4WD Lariat . Can anyone give me ideas for performance upgrades for this vehicle without voiding the warranty? I have read through the tuner threads but I am weary because the price of premium fuels. Thanks.
I am interested in keeping my truck exhaust as quite as possible, because my last truck was loud as hell. What is a good cold air intake and how easy is the installation?
the hardest part of the install (if you consider that hard) is the disassembly of the factory system. everything else is easy. on the mechanix chart of difficulty 1 thru 5.....I give it 1.
Also, there are exhaust systems out there that are a tad bit louder than stock....almost hardly noticeable to the change but offers a freer flowing exit of emissions which help the intake breath deeper. right off the bat, you'll notice an improvement, well, atleast I did!
Rack04,
I have a MagnaFlow exhaust system on mine and at idle and cruising it doesn't seem any louder than stock. When you give it gas then it gets louder but not enough to make it seem loud as hell. I also just installed the Airaid Cold air intake this past wekend and it was a piece of cake and I'm no mechanic by anybodies stretch of the word. The intake did make the truck get louder than before I installed it but it is worth it because of what it brings to the truck as far as performance goes. IMO
Guys: Can you help me understand what the cold air intake does that is different than what is on the truck already? Does it provide more air to the engine? If so, how is this accomplished?
