Fuel Tanks Venting Concerns
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Has anyone ever had venting problems with a Fuel Injected System?
I've twinned two stock tanks on my 1953. The first is in the stock slant cab position under the driver on the running board supports, the 2nd is under the passenger, also on the running boards in the reverse position. I have connected them with a length of 1" fuel hose (same as is on your neighbourhood gas station pump!) from the low side front corners
The SEFI pick-up and return goes to the original position tank and the system is vented from the top of the 2nd tank up through a hose that exits 4" below the front of the box out the back of the cab. I can smell gas far too often and have been trying to diagnose the problem. without success
I've deleted the smog pump and charcol filter and wondered if that was the problem.
Has anyone done this and solved this issue?
Just a thought here...If you were to run a line up to the air intake & plumb in just before the throttle body, you could use a PCV turned backwards ( in case the engine backfires, it will close the valve).
Of course, a charcoal canister would work too.
Venting the tank to open air has no choice but to allow gas vapours to escape.
AL.
