Axle Ratio and Open diff/LS

I was wondering if anybody might know what kind of rear end I have. I dont have my sticker since I bought my 2004 F150 XLT 4x4 Screw. The axle code on the side of my truck says 9. I dont know if that means anything? Can anyone help?

See if there is a small metal tag, affixed to a bolt on the rear pumpkin. That should give you the gear ratio (at least on other Ford trucks it has).

Xplorgee, I am sorry; I tried to look up axle code 9 for you, but no materials I currently have list a code 9. If you wish, I can call Ford here locally and ask them for you. Still, WheelMA1's post is quite valid: Look at the differential tag and see what information it gives. It will give you axle ratio, whether or not it is L/S--by having the letter "L" between the gear ratio whole number and the fractional part of the ratio--and the ring gear size in inches, as well as the build date and factory that built the differential. I hope this helps you out some!

The service manual list 19 for a 3.55 open diff. and H9 for a 3.55 limited slip. This is on the sticker on the drivers side door jam. Are you sure there is no letter or number in front of the 9?
