Howdy! I've decided to put BFG AT's on my '96 Bronco. Everyone here seems to like 'em and say 31x10.5x15 seems to be an ideal size. I went to a local tire joint and they told me they wouldn't put them on because they weren't OE specs. The best they would do was 265/70/15's. Has this happened to anyone else? What are my options? Thanks!
Its a law in maine that vehicles made with ABS or RABS cannot have tires with a larger or smaller diameter than what came in it. Your not allowed to alter the height but thats a different story. You might try buying the tires at the tire place and gettin them mounted at a local mechanic. Or just bring in the rims and dont tell the shop what they came off.
elmotho, where are you located in MA? If you are anywhere in the central part of the state, you should check out Dicks Tire Barn http://www.dickstirebarn.com/ . They wont give you a headache over anything. I have used them for years. Its a small shop, but they do a ton of business.
Wheel MA1 - I'm in Cambridge. Not a lot of support for Broncos 'round here, mechanics, accessories, etc. If I had a Subaru...I'll call some smaller shops, see what I can come up with. Tire Barn seems to have some good prices. I'll call them as well. They might make it worth the drive. Thanks!
I finally found a place that will install the BFG 31's at a decent price. Now I just want to make sure they will fit without any problems. I have a '96 no lift, stock height. Am I going to have any rubbing? Am I moving any bumpers? From what I've read in other threads it seems to be OK, but I just to be certain. Thanks for all your help everyone!
I run 31's with no prob. Brother runs 33's with a little rubbing, both of ours are stock, no lift. Tire shop told be that the 31's are only 1/2 inch taller than the stock 265's. Around here, Utah, 31's are alot easier to find on the rack, 265's are usually special order and more expensive.
Hey 96greenbronco, I just got back from Richfield yesterday. I have a friend in Joseph. Todd Feller, he has the little Auto Shack dealership there in town. The leaves sure were nice looking on the trees coming over the I-70! You might of seen me running around there in my Bronco.

kameronth it sure is a great place to live. sunday i had the bronco and it's 31's on top of cove mtn, east side of valley about 9500 ft, following atv trails. even though they are worn still grab enough to get muddy.
I finally had the BFG 31's put on yesterday. They ride a lot different that the 265's, more steady and a little smoother. They look pretty mean too. I'm looking foreward to driving these in the snow this winter. I moved here from AZ. Driving in the snow/ ice is new to me. These should help a bunch! Thanks for your help everybody!
