BURNING hot hubs

Ok, so first things first. When I first bought my truck (last Sep.) I had to replace the passenger side, front outer U-Joint. Well, since winter is coming I was checking out my truck and my Drivers side outer U-Joint is bad. So, I had it replaced (along with my radiator). Well, my truck used to pull to the drivers side when I braked. My Mech. said it was the U-joint, and that it should stop now. Well, it still does it, so after driving for like 15 miles, for some reason I felt my manual hubs. They were so hot I almost burned my hand, I couldn't hold my hand on them for more than like 4 seconds. Is that normal?? No, they aren't locked, I made sure they were unlocked. So, I put it in 4-wheel just to see if it would make the crack-skip-crack noise of a broken u-joint, but it didn't. Although when I tried turning, forward or reverse, it bumps and skips (the wheels I mean). Is this normal?? Please forgive the ignorance, I am new to 4WD. It worked great last winter. These b2's kick ##### in the snow. Ok, so to sum up;
1) Burning hot dis-engaged hubs - Normal??
2) Bump-skip in 4WD turning - Normal??
Thanks in advance.

Mr Moose, it sounds like you have a sticking brake caliper on that side. Try jacking up that wheel and see if it will turn.
