I can't understand why but I now have a sway problem. I had the original Firestone tires on the X and replaced them with Dunlop Rover RVXT 265/75/16 E ply. I did not have a problem with the old tires, but with the new ones I do. I have the tires aired to 80 psi and still have the sway. I could understand if I had the problem from the start, but this happened after the I put new tires on the X. I do not have a sway bar in the back. I tow a 33' (7000#) camper once or twice a month. The hitch has dual cam anti-sway control and wieght distro. The only thing the tire company will do is check the alignment and give credit towards a new set of Michelins at $50 more a tire.Any ideas would be great.
Are you experiencing sway problems (body roll), or the Exucrsion's wandering ailment (failure to track straight)? You can also do a search on this website for more related info.
It feels like the back of the X goes side to side. It is noticeable when changing lanes on the interstate, but you really notice it with the camper hooked up. It just raises the "pucker factor" a little when you are having to constantly correct the steering. But the most aggrevaiting part is that it started after I replace almost worn out tires with new tires of a different brand.
I had the same thing when I had my Firestones replaced during the recall. The new tires track any groove on the road especially the construction joint between the concrete slabs on the interstate. Makes me look like a drunk driving down the road.
You need Land Yot's Radius Rods! They solved the problem for me!
Nope...Just had to go to a different brand of tire. I switched to Michelin and the problem was solved. The sidewalls on the Dunlops are not as stiff as some of the other tires on the market...Thus...sway..
