Leaf spring stance fix?

Alright guys I bought an 04 F150 and the rear is sitting exactly an inch too high on one side. I have measured and compared and it is definantly a leaf with more bow and not a frame, tire pressure, fuel tank weight, or front coil sump issue. So I ordered a set of 2 inch drop shackles and I am thinking of putting one side on the -2 inch height setting hole and one side on the -1 inch height setting hole. This would sit my truck exactly level and look good but would it affect any pinion angle or tire alignment path in a negative way? You guys sent me to another thread an I researched it and now I think I have found my answer if it will work without side effects. Will it work? I posted this in the suspension section too to get all the views of both audiences.

Before I did any mods, I would take it back to the dealer and have them fix the leaf spring. Just my opinion, but it sounds like something Ford Quality Control may want to look at.

You would think that the best way to fix that would be to yell at ford, instead of going thru all that crap, but Your probably right, it's probably faster and easier just to do it Yourself,

either that or Your warantee is expired

No they give you the old "one side is higher to accomodate for a full tank of fuel" but I have a full tank of fuel and it is still unlevel.

Take it to another dealer. I have heard of frames/springs damaged and bent during shipment of vehicles and this sounds like one of those instances.

If they really said that, I would never darken their door (or shop) again. That's about as ignorant as you can get. As was previously suggested, find another dealer who is a little more knowledgeable.

Well it looks like tomorrow is an argument day then. I will grace their presence and see what I can get done. Has anyone else had this problem fixed before and did it take a whole new leaf? Can they just bow the old one?

Take it back to the dealer! And tell the service writer that 100's of Ford truck owners on FTE have level trucks.

If that doesn't work. Go out to their new truck lot and have him find one that isn't level. . . I beat he can't.

Well, I didn't realize "tomorrow" would be Sunday. Guess I will have to wait another day for the service department to open and pray they fix it. By the way I didn't buy any of the super extended special warrantys but doesn't it have a 36,000 bumper to bumper warranty anyway? I only have 400 miles so they should just fix it by rearching the leafs or replacement if necessary.

not for nothing, but you sound defeated before You even get there, and I don't think i would even be talking about re-arching,

I agree with FX4 Dude

" Go out to their new truck lot and have him find one that isn't level. . . I bet he can't."

sounds like a plan

My factory warranty is 3 year 36,000 miles bumper to bumper and 50,000 miles safty restraint systems so they better cover the leafs. The guide said no to things like oil changes and brake pads but leafs should be covered. I hope they are and it should be free by this definition. If they're not I will be disassembling them myself and swapping different leaf parts out with each other to get the correct stance.

They had better fix it with only 400 miles on it.

Well I went in today and they said within 3/4 inch was in spec. and it was "ok". They did admit that my steering wheel was off center when going down the road and are realigning it now.

I wouldn't accept that answer. If you can notice it, then it's out of spec in my book. You paid hard earned money for this truck!!! Take the issue up the ladder and start dancing on someone's desk!!

I've got another dealer to try and 35,500 miles to make up my mind in.
