I've got my engine tore apart in the mounts, all except the crank and stuff. My heads are going to come back all nice and shiney but still cast iron. What's the best paint method to make everything purdy and the paint still be there after I've ran it a little while?
Get some Ford blue spray paint. Thats what I did and it looks great. Put about 3 coats on too insure it stays glossy and nice. Just takes a little bit of pracitice to put it on just right. Make sure you keep the spray can about 8-10 inches away from the surface and put it on lightly and evenly til its all done.

I have used in the past and also on my 433 build (thats sold) Marine engine paint...it has epoxy in it..and is very resistant to the elemints!!
I'm using the Dupli-Color, Ford Blue. I bought three cans and it seems like each one is a different shade of blue. Yes, I got the same cap number each time. BUT I have to laugh. I kinda like the plad look.
I've got light blue and dark blue from the same cap number. I guess I'm not shaking it up good enough. Does anyone know if the old Fords used the light blue or dark blue? There are two shades of Ford Blue at Azone.
the dupli-color 1200 degree stuff is great. after the engine runs a while it bakes on almost looks like powder coating. theres 900 degree and 1200 degree. thats what i used.
I never use dupili color for the reason that there quailty is el-stinko. I used seymour dark mustang/ford blue. Ford began using dark blue in 1966. Before that they were all light blue. I could tell that my orginal paint was dark blue when I rebuilt it becasue there was just a hint of it under all the grease and crud.

All engine coating brands do that. Nothing special about dupili-color.
