I've replaced the dash switch and fixed the window motor (runs when hooked direct to battery) all fuses are good. Still won't turn motor. When I use a test light starting at dash switch I have solid light at the power and at the switch legs when they're activated. I move to the back starting at the connector behind the drivers side tail light I get a flashing test light through out the harness in the tailgate, doesn't matter gate up or down, key does have to be in on position. I think the safety has already been bypassed (wires connected together near gate handle)? Any ideas as to what might cause the flashing?
Year???? always helps. Are you sure-this is wires in tg- Sounds as you are testing wrong wire- fuel sending wire pulses when checking on some years if i remember right.Try the latch switch on the drivers side of tailgate- unplug and jumper it with a wire.Note- tailgate open, watch glass if it works don't let it move too far out!!!
I'm sure it is the tailgate harness I tested on either side of the key switch and still blinks. Couldn't see how to disconect that key switch, looks like its riveted together?
i believe there is a circuit breaker that is instead of a fuse. the breaker seems like it may be worn out and cant handle the current that is needed to operate the motor. how fast is the blink? is it on for a few seconds or is it a real fast blink?
My 78 had the circuit breaker mounted right off of starter solenoid stud- does power pulse off off this and is it VERY hot to touch??Wires run inside of frame down drivers side and window power wire is a large guage wire(12guage??) cause I used this to also power my brakeaway battery on my trailer.Anyways never seen a circuit breaker blink like a flasher for more than a couple of seconds- they break current when a short to ground happens and reset themselves when the short is gone-after awhile they weakin and kill juice before it gets to the orig. amp setting they were designed for.(example internal circuit breaker in headlight switch- can handle low beam but can't handle high beam for too long)
